Amazon Milk Frogs
The Amazon Milk Frog (Trachycephalus resinifictrix) has recently become one of my new favorite animals. I met one in captivity a year ago and I have loved them since. They are native to South America but many people have started to take them into their home as pets. I have not yet had any personal experiences with Milk Frogs as pets. Before purchasing one, you should do extensive research beyond this lens to make sure they are the right pet for you and that you are able to take care of them. With that said, let's check out some basic facts about this cool amphibian.

The Facts
- Adult frogs range in size from from 2.5 to 4 inches (6.3 cm to 10 cm). Males are smaller than females.
- They are light grayish in color with brown or black banding. Juveniles show a stronger color, but fade with maturity.
- Their natural habitat is in humid rainforest regions in northern South America (Colombia, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela).
- They feed on insects such as crickets, wax worms, roaches and mealworms. It is said adults will feed on pre-killed pinky mice. Some people say they wouldn't feed their Milk Frog that, though.
- The majority of their diet should consist of crickets that are the length of the width of the frog's head.
- Three to eight crickets every two days per frog is a good meal for adults. Their food should be coated with high quality reptile vitamin and mineral supplements every two to four feedings. Juveniles should be fed daily. They should have their food supplemented more often
